Be careful....you don't expect your tea to be so hot, so long after you boiled the water. This mug keeps the tea hot for hours at a time. I boiled water at 9:30 am and kept the cover on the mug, burned my tongue on the tea at noon so I took the cover off. 5:30 pm, tea is still hot. Really impressive.I gave it 5 stars because it does what it says it does very well, but there are some negatives. It is a little pricey. It's unclear exactly where to fill the water to. If you overfill, you get loose tea leaves above the screen and you have to wash it out. There really is no easy drinkable, non spill, top. It just opens completely and you drink out of it. The lid does not stay attached to the mug so you could separate the mug from the lid easily (if you're walking around drinking you wouldn't carry the top)

This has worked wonderfully for the past few months. Drop in a Yerba Mate tea bag and refill the 'gourd' over the whole day. The metal top edge does not get too hot even with 195F hot water, rather I keep burning my tongue on the hot tea. The bottle retains no no smell or taste of coffee after washing it. I haven't really knocked it about so I can't speak for how resistant it is to abuse. Enjoy.p.s. It also works with chilled drinks, the ice stays below the screen.
