Been using a SV-GHE50-XA for about a year with coffee+sugar; washed out the thermos/cap after every use. Started to get a funky taste in the coffee. Took a closer look at the tricky cap and noticed gunk build up in the small vent hole to the o-ringed plunger on the bottom of the cap. Took the cap apart (it "snaps" together but is NOT designed for regular disassembly) and found that the small vent hole is actually open to the entire complex interior of the cap. Any liquid coming up from the vent can get trapped inside the cap which cannot easily be scrubbed out. The inside of our cap had a brown film...

This vacuum bottle is the best purchase I made this year. I am still impressed. The test: It kept my drink cold for over 20 hours. The astonishing part - the bottle was in my car which was parked in the summer sun. It was 100 degrees outside - we both know the inside of the car was boiling. But my drink was as cold as if it had come out of the fridge. There was still ice in it.As for the button sticking (complaints in other reviews)... I take iced coffee in it everyday. My coffee has cream and coffee syrup in it - its sticky. When the button got sticky (only once), I soaked it in a cup of hot soapy water and it was fine within 15 mins.Another wonderful feature is that it will fit in a standard car cup holder. I drive an older car (14 years old) and the cup holders are very narrow... this bottle fit perfectly...I can't say enough wonderful things about it... get yourself one. You won't be disappointed. I LOVE mine.

I have three of these, the 17oz being reviewed, a 32oz Tuff Sports and a big 52oz Tuff Sports insulated container. They all share a common trait. They keep food and drink hotter or colder longer than anything I have used to date. I have the usual tall worker's thermos from a well known brand and a short wide mouthed soup/stew thermos that we are all familiar with. They cannot hold a candle to these fine insulated containers. I bring coffee to work from my morning brew because I use a nice blend similar to Blue Mountain that I grind myself and make strong enough to be interesting. I can pour the remaining coffee from my morning pot into my 17oz Tuff Slim at 6:00 am and still enjoy hot coffee at 2:30 pm. The same for my 32oz Zojirushi. They rock! Remember preheat with hot water to warm the interior and the fuller you fill it the longer it stays hot. The cap and pouring spout also work easy and are drip proof. Zojirushi does it right. If you are spending the money, you might as well buy the best.
