Zojirushi began in Japan in 1918 as a manufacturer of hand-blown vacuum bottles. They are still known today for their high quality vacuum insulated products. This stainless steel food jar is vacuum insulated so it keeps foods (or beverages) hot or cold for hours. Durable and sanitary 18/8 stainless steel construction will not rust, tarnish or stain, and will not leak harmful chemicals. The interior is polished stainless steel with a nonstick coating and is neutral to taste and smell. Tight -fitted lid has a gasket that seals lid to minimize leaks and maximize heat retention. It has a unique lid designed with a vent that allows users to release the pressure inside to make the lid easier to open when the food jar contains hot foods or beverages. A wide opening of 2 and one half inches makes it easy to fill and clean and allows user to eat directly out of the jar.

Per instructions, you have to pour boiling water into the jar and let it sit for several minutes, empty jar, then put in your hot food. I don't usually do this, and it still does a decent job keeping food warm.I got this food jar primarily because it was 1) stainless 2) has a pressure release vent on lid.My elementary school aged child used the Thermos stainless food jar but wasn't able to unscrew the lid by herself at lunch. Even the teachers had a hard time opening it. It occasionally leaked. This one is easier to open and hasn't leaked.

That's what I needed! It still keeps my child's lunch warm (hot) enough in 3-6 hrs.BE careful: if you get the hot soup in there, it will be still that hot in 2-3 hrs...So if you need it just warm in 2-3 hrs, not hot, then get it in there very warm at the start. The JAR does keep the temperature of the food you put in. That's my experience.I also own Zojirushi thermos-can't complain at all.

By F. Agostinelli
I was looking for a thermos that would really keep the food hot for the kids. I previously bought a Zojirushi bento box and I am so happy with it that I thought this thermos would be the best thing. It was very expensive, I feel like I threw my money to the trash, and I even bought 2 of them!
