This thermos keeps my drinks hot for over 6 hours. The lid consists of 7 parts which are quite easy to disassemble/reassemble. I enjoy the fact that I know all parts of the lid are clean and not harboring old residue or smells.The only set back with this mug is that it's inconvenient to drink from. When you open the lid, several drops of your drink will drip out of the lid. Unfortunately, I was wearing white the day I first to decided to drink hot chocolate from this mug.Overall, great mug. Just be careful when you drink.*****Update 1 month later. I take back my paragraph about smells. The top DOES smell even after you disassemble all of the pieces. The metallic ring traps some liquid underneath and there is no way take it apart. I've found if I take all the pieces apart and SOAK them in hot water, the smells go away for the day. After the next use, you have to do it again, or it will start smelling. ** Be careful with using dish soap while soaking!** I tried that the first time,rinsed with water, and my beverage tasted like soap all day.

Love the Zojirushi brand. Have a rice cooker and bread maker from them. Thought I would love this "mug", but honestly can't figure out how to use the drink spout or if it is even a drink spout. Perhaps this is mis-labeled as a "mug", when really it is a thermos.

Great little mug, keeps my coffee hot for four hours,warm for ten to twelve.. a few parts to clean, but all in all a well built insulated mug. i am probably going to buy the bigger mug with the locking drink spout..
