i bought this to carry my soup in for my lunch break where i don't have access to a microwave. and hoped it would double as a commuter mug. it is clearly WELL built but it is not user friendly as a travel mug. you have to take out the stopper which is a PITA (pain in the arse). works great as a portable thermos in which you pour the contents into a mug. but to drink from, especially while commuting? i think not.. surprised that ATK/cook's illustrated supported this as a travel mug. i also purchased the Thermos Sipp 16-Ounce Vacuum-Insulated Travel Tumbler, as a comparison. this mug did not leak when sealed, HOWEVER once the seal was popped up i don't know how the manufacturer expected you to drink from it without the contents dribbling down your chin. yet another two examples of good ideas, badly executed.

I got this mug in 'Rose' and I love the color, it's a shimmery pink. It's pretty slim and small compare to my Starbucks' Thermal Cup which holds the same 16oz. Had to put the mug to the test and it does hold 16oz! I thought it was kinda expensive for a thermal though. The shipping was pretty fast, ordered it on Sat. morning and got in on Monday afternoon! Haven't got to used it yet but I can't wait to try it out! Wish I found this sooner (like a year ago) so I could put it to use for my baby's formula. Overall, great slim-look, fast shipping!**UPDATE**When I received the item, I was planning to keep it even though the top lid was not ideal at all. You have to open the whole lid to drink from it. That's how the design was intended,but I kept it because of the color. After having it for just a week,the color on the bottom of the mug was starting to fade. This was not worth keeping for $30,But I have to stay, it did keep hot liquids HOT for a long period of time.

If you are looking for a compact and attractive way of carrying either hot or cold drinks this is the bottle for you. Totally leakproof, and with a 1 1/2 inch opening it is wide enough for most ice cubes to be added easily. No inner spout or cap exists, just simply remove the top and drink. I have put ice in this to find the ice still there 24 hours later, and hot coffee stays hot for a very, very long time. Zojirushi makes excellent products, and this is no exception to the rule.
